“First in, Last Out” Fireman Helmet Wall Hanging
I’ve burned this piece to honor the dedicated firemen first responders who put their lives on the line for us daily. The feature of this wood burning is a fireman’s helmet and has been wood burned by hand in a ‘sketched’ style. The bold burn lines add a beautiful texture to this wall hanging and are deep and dark. I’ve chosen this wood slice specifically for this project as it fits the helmet design perfectly. No color has been added to this piece in order to preserve the natural color of the wood and help the burn lines stand out. This is a “live edge” wood slice which means it still has all its bark and even some lichen attached. The entire piece has been sealed with 2 coats of polyurethane. There is picture hanging hardware on the back for ease of hanging.
Measures approximately 5.5in/13.75 round and is just over 2cm thick.
This piece took just over 3 hours to sand, sketch, burn, sand again, seal and attach hardware.
