“Flowers Shall Grow” Wall Hanging
“From my rotting body, flowers shall grow’
I love this quote as it reminds me that I am part a greater whole. My rotting body will provide the nutrients needed to help plant life to grow; which provides food and shelter for bugs and animals; which will, in turn, feed my future generations. The circle goes on.
This simple wall hanging features a white skeletal hand holding a pink wild rose that is framed by the quote above. The outlines and lettering have been burned by hand and the wild rose has been painted with shades of pink and green. The wood slice I’ve chosen for this piece still has its live edge bark and colorful lichen attached. The entire piece has been coated with two layers of polyurethane to protect the burn and paint for years to come. There is picture hanging hardware on the back of the piece for ease of hanging.
This piece measures approximately 4.75in/12.5cm round and is almost 1in/2.3cm thick.
It took me 4 hours to sand, sketch, burn, sand again, paint, seal and attach hardware to this piece.
